Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 per annum
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Legal Executive to join our newly established New Claims Team. This role is ideally suited to a recent law graduate or an individual who has recently completed their LPC or SQE 1 and is looking to take the first step in their legal career.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a law firm environment and serves as a stepping stone towards a long-term legal career. You will play a key role in the initial assessment and onboarding of new housing disrepair claims, working closely with experienced legal professionals and contributing to the growth of this new department.
Key Responsibilities
· Review and assess new claims at the onboarding stage.
· Conduct initial vetting of cases to determine their suitability for progression.
· Carry out legal risk assessments on potential claims.
· Review client instructions, evidence, and supporting documentation.
· Prepare, draft, and process legal documents and correspondence.
· Ensure compliance with relevant legal procedures and the Housing Disrepair Pre-Action Protocol.
· Assist with client onboarding and case opening procedures.
· Maintain accurate records and update case management systems.
· Liaise with clients and internal teams to obtain relevant information and documentation.
· Support solicitors and senior members of the team with case preparation and administration.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
· Law degree (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
· Completion of the LPC or SQE 1.
· Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to assess information objectively and identify potential legal risks.
· Strong organisational and time-management skills.
· A genuine interest in litigation and housing-related claims.
Desirable
· Previous legal work experience, placement, internship, or paralegal experience.
· Knowledge of housing disrepair claims or pre-action protocols.
