Full job descriptionA Private Healthcare organisation is looking for an experienced Financial Controller on a 3 month contract who can step in quickly and bring stability, structure, and confidence to the finance function during a busy period. This is a hands-on role focused on tightening controls, leading the month-end close, and acting as a key support to the Finance Director.
You’ll take ownership of the financial control environment, ensuring the balance sheet is clean, reconciled, and well-supported, month-end runs smoothly, and key controls are operating as they should. You’ll also lead the AP team, keep banking and payroll controls tight, and act as the first line of assurance for the FD. The role includes deputy cover, so sound judgement and calm leadership matter.

Responsibilities:
*Strengthening financial controls and ensuring balance sheet integrity across all key accounts.
*Leading the month-end close, reviewing journals, reconciliations, and audit trails.
*Producing monthly reporting packs with clear variance commentary.
*Overseeing banking, cash controls, payroll reconciliations, and segregation of duties.
*Coordinating internal and external audits and ensuring evidence is complete and timely.
*Working with Group systems and FP&A teams to resolve control, access, or interface issues.
*Providing leadership and resilience across the finance team during a period of high activity.
Requirements:
*Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong post-qualified experience.
*Background in Private Healthcare preferred but not essential
*Immediately Available to start a new role
*Deep grounding in financial control, balance sheet management, and month-end processes.
*Confident working within a governance-heavy environment and leading on audits.
*Comfortable challenging senior colleagues and escalating appropriately.
*Calm, methodical, and able to get to grips with complex processes quickly.
