Job Description:
Full job descriptionKCR are supporting a well-established public sector organisation in Newton Aycliffe in the recruitment of an experienced Finance Manager to join their senior leadership team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and commercially aware finance professional to take ownership of the organisation’s financial operations and lead a small, dedicated team.
The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day finance function while supporting long-term financial planning and governance.
Key responsibilities include:
*Leading and developing a small finance team
*Managing the full finance function including AP, AR, payroll and cash flow
*Preparing and monitoring annual budgets and longer-term financial plans
*Producing timely and accurate management accounts and year-end statements
*Supporting audit processes and maintaining strong financial controls
*Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and frameworks
*Providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making
The Person
*Proven experience in a finance management or senior finance role
*Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
*Experience overseeing multiple finance processes (e.g. payroll, AP/AR, reporting)
*Ability to manage, support and develop a small team
*Confident communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the organisation
*Strong systems and Excel skills
Desirable:
*Experience within a public sector or local government environment
*A recognised accountancy qualification (or actively studying)
