A senior leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a large NHS organisation’s Capital Projects team. This role will lead the delivery of a significant capital programme across a complex, multi-site estate.
The Role
You will take strategic and operational responsibility for a portfolio of capital projects, leading a team of project managers and ensuring successful programme delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
*Leading the delivery of capital projects ranging from minor works to multi-million-pound developments
*Managing and developing a team of Project Managers and overseeing performance
*Driving the capital programme, including new builds, refurbishments, and backlog maintenance
*Leading estate strategy development and long-term capital planning
*Overseeing business case development and capital budget management
*Providing expert advice to senior stakeholders, including executive teams and boards
*Managing consultants, contractors, and external partners
*Ensuring compliance with governance, legislation, and health & safety standards
*Deputising for the Head of Projects where required
About You
You will be a senior capital projects professional with strong leadership, strategic, and technical capability.
Essential:
*Degree (or equivalent) in construction, engineering, surveying, or related discipline
*Significant experience managing capital projects and estate development programmes
*Proven track record in a senior or leadership role
*Strong financial and budget management experience
*Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
Desirable:
*Professional membership (e.g. RICS, CIOB, RIBA, CIBSE)
*Experience within healthcare or public sector environments
*Knowledge of NHS capital investment processes
*Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in complex environments
