Full job description Mostly remote but some travel to offices Rate: £700pd - £900pd Outside IR35 Duration: 6 Months A leading insurer is seeking an experienced Underwriting Transformation Director to lead a high-impact modernisation programme. This role will drive the shift from manual, judgement-led underwriting to a data-driven, digitally enabled model, delivering rapid performance improvement and long-term capability build.Key responsibilities: * Conduct rapid diagnostic and define a target underwriting operating model
* Deliver a focused transformation roadmap with measurable outcomes
* Standardise and digitise underwriting processes, rules and decision frameworks
* Improve data, analytics and automation to enhance underwriting decisions
* Strengthen governance, controls, authority and referral frameworks
* Enhance workflow efficiency, case handling and turnaround times
* Align underwriting with pricing, claims and portfolio management
About you: * Proven leader of large-scale underwriting transformation programmes
* Strong experience delivering manual-to-digital change (automation, data, rules)
* Deep understanding of underwriting performance, risk selection and governance
* Executive stakeholder management and a hands-on delivery mindset
