About the Role
A reputable independent school is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Literacy Support professional to join their team.
Based in the school library, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on students’ learning and development.
This vacancy arises due to a valued team member relocating, creating an exciting opportunity to work closely alongside the experienced Senior Literacy Lead. With her transition to a reduced three-day schedule ahead of retirement in the coming years, this role provides excellent scope for professional development and continuity within our literacy provision.
Key Responsibilities
*Support literacy development across the school by routinely assessing students’ reading and comprehension skills
*Deliver targeted interventions to develop reading ability and foster a genuine love of reading
*Identify students requiring additional support and enable them to better access the curriculum
*Provide support with reading, writing, and broader learning skills
*Help students develop associated skills such as:
*Working memory
*Spelling
*Emotional literacy
*Turn-taking and social interaction
*Fine motor skills
*Organisation and relational skills
*Work collaboratively with the Head of Therapy to arrange independent dyslexia assessments (with parental/guardian consent) for students who show indicators
About You
We are looking for a passionate and committed individual who:
*Has proven experience working with children or young people
*Ideally has experience supporting SEN, neurodiversity, or SEMH learners
*Is patient, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with students
*Has strong communication and organisational skills
*Is enthusiastic about promoting literacy and supporting learning in a creative and engaging way
