Job Description:
Full job descriptionAlexander Daniels are working with a leading law firm based in Coventry who are looking to recruit a Legal Accounts Assistant on a part-time, permanent basis (16 hours per week). Reporting into the Accounts Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily bookkeeping and providing a high-quality financial service to the firm and its clients.
Responsibilities:
*Accurate cashbook management and general ledger accuracy
*Completing daily bank reconciliations for both client and office accounts
*Daily preparation of online bank payments, (occasional) cheque raising
*Daily allocation and reconciliation of payments
*Assist in quarterly client interest calculation and processing
*Assist Accounts Supervisor and Practice Director with finance-related queries and resolve client financial queries
*Invoicing and credit note issuance ensuring correct VAT Treatment
*Review ledgers to ensure any errors are picked up and corrected in a timely manner
*Review debtor and creditor ledgers to ensure items are cleared as soon as possible
*Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules (including AML related processes), reporting any breaches
*Provide fee earners with ad hoc financial information regarding matters and debts
Essential experience:
*Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules and Regulations
*An understanding of accounting principles and practices
*Anti-money laundering awareness
*Experience with Legal accounting software
*Ability to work within the requirement of confidentiality
*High standard of accuracy and able to work under pressure
