Teaching Assistant - SEN & SEMH Specialist
TradeWind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people by helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs. You will play a key role in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.

*Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.

*Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and confidence.

*Support the delivery of lessons and help adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.

*Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.

*Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support student progress.

*Monitor and record pupil development, providing feedback to teaching staff.

The Ideal Candidate
*Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs.

*A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.

*Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

*Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

*Knowledge of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or behavioural support strategies is desirable.

*A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
