Role Purpose
The Finance Manager will lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, robust financial controls, and the delivery of timely financial information to support business decision-making within a professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Produce accurate monthly management accounts and financial analysis.
*Investigate budget variances and provide meaningful commentary.
*Manage month-end processes, including Accounts Payable, VAT, Fixed Assets, and General Ledger.
*Assist with annual budgets, forecasting, and cashflow management.
*Prepare quarterly VAT returns.
*Support annual financial and SRA audits.
*Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and financial regulations.
*Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, and controls.
*Develop departmental objectives, policies, and procedures.
*Lead, develop, and manage the finance team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
*Ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
*Deliver financial inductions to new starters and newly promoted partners.
Skills & Experience
*Minimum 5 years’ relevant finance experience, ideally within professional services.
*Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
*Strong budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting experience.
*Excellent knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules.
*Experience of financial audits, controls, and compliance.
*Strong systems knowledge and process improvement capability.
*Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
*Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
