Are you resilient, compassionate, and passionate about helping young people thrive and overcome barriers to learning? Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive and nurturing SEN school.
The school provides support for pupils identified as needing specialist assessments, and individual and bespoke learning. The school aims to adapt to pupils unique learning styles, allowing each child to fully access their learning and achieve their most positive outcomes.
The role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual passionate about making a real difference, playing a key role in supporting young people in having a new and positive education experience.
About the Role:
As an SEN teaching assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, support staff and parents/carers to ensure nurturing, consistent and personalised support is available for pupils. You will play a key part in creating an accessible, safe and stimulating environment where every child can thrive, access learning, develop communication skills and make progress at their own pace, in line with their EHCPs.
Key Responsibilities:
*Supporting pupils with PMLD, CLDD, Autism and Sensory processing disorder, following individual EHCP targets.
*Providing 1:1 and small-group support, adapting activities to meet sensory, cognitive, and communication needs.
*Using PECS, visual timetables, sensory strategies, and communication aids.
*Supporting pupils during regulated and dysregulated behaviours, using de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies.
*Helping to set up engaging learning resources and maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
*Encouraging independence, emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence and life skills through consistent routine and positive relationships.
*Assisting with personal care, including toileting, feeding, mobility, and changing, where needed.
Requirements:
Essential:
*Confident and proactive, able to use initiative when supporting pupils with complex needs.
*Patient, adaptable, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
*Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
*Willing to support with personal care and mobility needs.
*Available full-time and committed to a long-term role.
Desirable:
*Experience working with PMLD, CLDD, Autism and Sensory processing disorder.
