Full job descriptionOur client is a dynamic and growing business based in Reading, currently seeking a Junior Accountant on a fixed-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual with month-end experience who is immediately available and looking to take the next step in their accounting career.


Responsibilities
*Assist with the month-end close process, including journals, accruals and prepayments
*Support the preparation of management accounts
*Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
*Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register
*Assist with bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring
*Support budgeting and forecasting activities
*Prepare and analyse financial reports to support decision-making
*Assist with year-end processes and audit requirements
*Contribute to process improvements within the finance function.


Requirements
*Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, with exposure to month-end processes
*Actively studying towards an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or looking to start
*Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
*Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and journals is desirable
*Good Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
*High level of attention to detail and accuracy
*Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
*Able to manage workload and meet tight deadlines, particularly around month-end
*Immediately available or available at short notice.
