Job Description:
Full job descriptionI’m currently working with a growing financial planning firm in Birmingham that is looking to appoint a Technical Paraplanning Team Leader.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paraplanner with strong technical expertise who is looking to play a key role within the business. Whilst the position includes responsibility for leading a small team, the firm’s priority is finding someone with the technical capability to act as a subject matter expert and support both Paraplanners and Advisers across complex financial planning cases.
You will oversee a team of two Paraplanners whilst also providing technical guidance to three Trainee Advisers. The role remains hands-on from a paraplanning perspective, making it ideal for someone who enjoys technical research, report writing and helping to solve complex client planning challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
*Leading and supporting a team of two Paraplanners
*Acting as the technical expert within the business
*Providing guidance and technical support to three Trainee Advisers
*Producing and reviewing suitability reports
*Conducting technical research across pensions, investments and protection
*Assisting with complex client cases and financial planning strategies
*Maintaining high standards of report writing and compliance
*Supporting the ongoing development of junior team members
*Contributing to process improvements across the technical function
About You
To be considered, you will have:
*Significant paraplanning experience within a financial planning environment
*Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments, retirement planning and taxation
*Experience dealing with complex financial planning cases
*Excellent report writing and analytical skills
*The ability to support and develop less experienced colleagues
*Diploma qualified or working towards Chartered status would be advantageous
*Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Previous line management experience would be beneficial, but the firm is placing greater emphasis on technical capability and leadership by example.
What’s on Offer?
*Salary of £45,000 - £50,000
*3% employee and 5% employer pension contributions
*4x death in service cover
*25 days holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday off
*Financial support towards professional qualifications
*Free onsite parking
*Regular team events, including overseas incentives
*Office-based initially, with hybrid working (1-2 days from home) available following probation
Please note: Due to the office location, candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Paraplanner looking to join a supportive business where they can have a genuine impact on the development of both the team and the wider advice function.
