Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Nurture Support Assistant to join our primary school team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and additional learning needs, helping pupils to feel safe, develop confidence, and engage positively with their learning.
You will play a key role in delivering targeted nurture provision, supporting pupils both within the classroom and in small group or 1:1 settings.

Contract: Full-time
Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Start Date: Tuesday 1 September 2026
Key Responsibilities
*Provide tailored support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs
*Deliver and support nurture-based interventions to promote emotional wellbeing and engagement
*Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support behaviour and self-regulation
*Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals
*Support pupils in accessing the curriculum through adapted activities and strategies
*Monitor, record and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
*Promote positive behaviour, resilience and independence
*Help create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
*Experience working with children with SEN and/or SEMH needs
*A calm, patient and nurturing approach
*Strong relationship-building and communication skills
*An understanding of behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
*The ability to remain resilient and adaptable in a dynamic environment
*A commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding
Desirable Skills
*Relevant qualification (e.g. Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or SEN support)
*Experience working in a nurture provision or similar setting
*Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or nurture principles
