Team Leader – Children’s Residential Care Staffordshire | Temporary to Permanent | Agency Rate (Temp) | £32,000 – £39,000 (Perm) | Full Time | 2 on 4 off
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a children’s residential home in Staffordshire for an experienced Team Leader to join the service on a temporary to permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to secure a long-term role within a supportive residential setting, with a clear pathway to a permanent contract and a competitive salary of £32,000 – £39,000 upon completion.
You will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of the home, supporting and guiding a team of residential support workers while ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered to children and young people at all times.
Key Responsibilities
*Leading shifts and providing hands-on supervision and guidance to support workers during day-to-day operations
*Acting as a positive role model for both staff and young people, promoting a therapeutic and nurturing environment
*Supporting the Deputy and Registered Manager in ensuring the home remains compliant with Ofsted standards and the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
*Contributing to care planning, risk assessments, and key worker responsibilities for individual young people
*Maintaining accurate records, logs, and documentation in line with regulatory requirements
*Supporting safeguarding processes and escalating concerns appropriately
*Holding the shift in the absence of senior management where required
What We’re Looking For
*Right to work in the UK — essential, all candidates must be able to evidence this at point of application
*NVQ / QCF Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care or equivalent — essential
*Previous experience in a shift lead or senior support worker capacity within a children’s residential setting — strongly preferred
*Sound understanding of Ofsted frameworks, safeguarding legislation, and the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
*A trauma-informed, child-centred approach to care
*Strong communication skills and the ability to lead by example under pressure
*Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and waking nights where required
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service — desirable
