Full job descriptionAssistant Management Accountant
Chesterfield, South Yorkshire
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a busy and supportive finance team based in Chesterfield. Working closely with senior members of the finance function, you will gain exposure across management accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement activities.
The role would suit an existing Assistant Management Accountant or an ambitious Finance Assistant looking to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
*Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including journals, accruals and prepayments
*Support the production of monthly management accounts
*Maintain and update the fixed asset register
*Complete bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies
*Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items
*Support the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors where required
*Assist with the preparation of VAT returns across multiple entities
*Ensure financial controls and procedures are followed consistently
*Support process improvements and finance-related projects
*Provide ad hoc support to the wider finance team as required
About You
*Previous experience within an accounting or finance role
*Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
*Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
*Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and take ownership of tasks
