ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed Functional Skills Tutor to deliver bespoke 1:1 learning programmes to young people in Bromley who are currently not attending mainstream education.
You will plan and deliver tailored sessions in Functional Skills English and Maths, supporting learners from Key Stage 2 through to Post-16. Many pupils may have SEN, gaps in learning, or low confidence due to time out of education. Your role is to re-engage them, rebuild core skills, and help them progress towards accredited outcomes or reintegration into education, training, or employment.
This role is ideal for an experienced tutor or teacher who thrives in a personalised, flexible environment and wants to make a meaningful impact on learners who need targeted support.
Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to track progress, ensure high-quality provision, and support effective learning.
CONTRACT / POSITION DETAILS
*Location - Bromley and surrounding areas
*Position - Functional Skills Tutor (Outreach)
*Type of work - 1:1 tuition (in-person)
*Start date - ASAP
*Duration - Varies by learner
*Contract type - Temporary
*Hours - Flexible; sessions typically 1-3 hours
*Full-time/Part-time - Both available
*Minimum rate of pay - From £25 per hour
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
*Teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, or relevant tutoring experience
*Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths
*Experience supporting learners with SEN or barriers to learning
*Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (desirable)
REQUIREMENTS TO WORK WITH PROSPERO TEACHING
*Right to Work in the UK
*Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
*Two recent, relevant child-related references
