Job Description:
Full job descriptionA welcoming and inclusive SEN Secondary school in Southwark is seeking to appoint two dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join their specialist ASD provision from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced LSAs who are passionate about supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other neurodiversities within specialist classroom settings.
The Role
The successful candidates will work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop communication and social skills, and achieve their individual targets in a nurturing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
*Supporting pupils within specialist SEN classes
*Working 1:1 and in small groups
*Assisting with communication, sensory, and emotional regulation strategies
*Encouraging pupil independence and engagement
*Supporting behaviour management in line with school policies
*Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and parents where appropriate
Requirements
Applicants must:
*Have at least 1 year of experience working in a UK classroom
*Have previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASD
*Be patient, proactive, and adaptable
*Have strong communication and teamwork skills
*Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable
*Experience working within a specialist provision or resource base
*Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or sensory strategies
*Relevant TA/LSA or SEN qualifications
