Location: Peterborough (Hybrid working with occasional travel)
Salary: £65,000 - £70,000
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to join a growing organisation operating within the energy and infrastructure sector. This is a key role supporting large-scale, long-term projects, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior finance leaders and project teams to deliver high-quality financial insight and reporting.
This position is ideal for a commercially-minded finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Prepare weekly and monthly project reports, including cost analysis and variance commentary
*Manage long-term project accounting, including capital expenditure recognition
*Produce monthly management accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet) and consolidated reports
*Support project budgeting and forecasting
*Deliver cash flow reporting on a regular basis
*Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (VAT, year-end accounts, group reporting)
*Oversee asset and inventory management controls
*Work closely with project managers to provide real-time financial insights
*Support M&A activity, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration
*Assist with year-end audits and liaise with external auditors
*Maintain adherence to internal controls and ISO standards
What We’re Looking For
*Qualified Accountant (ACCA / CIMA)
*Proven experience in project accounting, ideally within construction, infrastructure, energy, or renewables
*Strong knowledge of long-term contract accounting
*Experience using ERP systems
*Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
*Strong commercial awareness and understanding of financial controls
*Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
*Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
