Role OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive secondary school in Havering. The successful candidate will work closely with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting their learning, emotional development, and inclusion within mainstream classrooms and specialist settings.
Key Responsibilities*Provide in-class and 1:1 support for students with SEN, including learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH)
*Assist teachers in delivering differentiated learning activities
*Support students in accessing the curriculum and achieving individual learning targets
*Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour support strategies in line with school policies
*Encourage student independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
*Support students during transitions, break times, and school activities where required
Person Specification*Experience working with children or young people (school or youth setting preferred)
*Understanding of SEN needs and inclusive education practices
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting learners
*Ability to work effectively as part of a team
*Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
