Working Pattern: On-Site
Working Hours:
*Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
*Friday: 8:00am - 12:30pm
The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join a well-established manufacturing business on the Wirral. Reporting directly to the Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and contributing to the smooth running of day-to-day accounting operations.
This position would suit an ambitious finance professional looking to further develop their accounting career within a supportive and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
*Support budgeting and forecasting processes
*Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
*Prepare and post journals, including accruals and prepayments
*Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
*Manage accounts receivable, including invoice posting and credit control activities
*Provide accounts payable support during holiday cover periods
*Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payment of suppliers
*Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances
*Support payroll processing and related reconciliations
*Assist with VAT return preparation and submission
*Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation
*Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls
*Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
*Produce financial reports and analysis as required
*Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
*Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and systems
*Provide general administrative support to the finance department
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
*Previous experience within an accounting or finance position
*Experience using Sage 200
*AAT qualification or be actively studying towards AAT (or equivalent)
*Strong numerical and analytical skills
*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
*Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
*Strong organisational and time management skills
*The ability to work independently and as part of a team
*Effective communication skills with colleagues across the business
