Start Date: September
Contract: Full-time (Initially until Christmas, with likely extension)
Role OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Stoke-on-Trent from September. This is a full-time teaching position working with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils with a range of special educational needs.
The role is initially confirmed until the Christmas break, with a strong likelihood of extension beyond this period for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities*Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to students with SEN needs
*Teach a small class of KS3–KS4 pupils with varying abilities and learning profiles
*Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
*Develop individual learning plans (IEPs/EHCP targets) and monitor student progress
*Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals
*Implement behaviour management strategies effectively and consistently
*Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
*Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and reports
Candidate Requirements*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
*Experience working with SEN pupils (e.g., ASD, SEMH, MLD, SLD or similar)
*Strong classroom management skills and a nurturing approach
*Ability to differentiate learning to meet a wide range of needs
*Excellent communication and teamwork skills
*A resilient, patient, and adaptable mindset
Desirable Experience*Previous experience teaching in an SEN school or specialist provision
*Experience with EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
*Training in areas such as Team Teach, behaviour management, or autism strategies
