Are you the kind of Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships, stay calm under pressure and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves when the day gets challenging?
We are looking for a resilient, confident and engaging Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in South Tyneside. Situated within easy reach of Hebburn, Jarrow, South Shields, Gateshead and Sunderland, the school serves a diverse community and prides itself on helping every young person achieve their potential.
This is a general Teaching Assistant role, supporting students across a range of subjects and year groups. However, the successful candidate must be particularly strong in managing behaviour, de-escalating situations and building positive relationships with students who may present additional challenges.

*Is confident supporting students with behavioural needs.
*Can remain calm, professional and consistent when faced with challenging situations.
*Has a good sense of humour and plenty of personality.
*Builds trust and rapport quickly with students and staff.
*Is proactive, reliable and willing to get involved in all aspects of school life.
In return, you’ll be joining a supportive team where no two days are the same. The role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives while developing your own skills and experience within education.
Start Date: September 2026, although an earlier start is available for the right candidate.
If you’re a strong character who can combine high expectations with empathy, encouragement and a bit of personality, we’d love to hear from you.
