Role: 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Full-Time, Monday - Friday
Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience
Be the person who changes a child’s school experience.Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a nurturing and supportive SEN Primary School in Stockport that is seeking a 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to join their team this September.
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to work closely with a primary-aged pupil who requires dedicated support with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Every day, you’ll have the chance to make a genuine difference by helping a child feel safe, understood, and able to succeed.
The RoleAs a 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant, you will:
*Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs
*Build a positive and trusting relationship based on consistency and understanding
*Support emotional regulation and implement strategies to manage behaviours positively
*Encourage engagement in learning and promote independence
*Create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
*Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and families to ensure the best outcomes for the pupil
*Celebrate small wins and support the child’s social and emotional development
We’re Looking For Someone Who:*Is patient, resilient, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs
*Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, trauma, anxiety, or additional learning needs
*Can remain calm under pressure and adapt their approach to meet individual needs
*Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
*Understands the importance of consistency, empathy, and positive behaviour support
Transferable Experience Welcome:We would love to hear from candidates with backgrounds in:
*SEN or mainstream education
*Behaviour mentoring or pastoral support
*Youth work
*Residential children’s care
*Support work
*Mental health services
*Sports coaching
*Early years and childcare
