Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Secondary SEN School in Tameside from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and wants to play a vital role in helping a student thrive both academically and personally.
The RoleYou will work 1:1 with a secondary-aged pupil, providing tailored support throughout the school day. The student may have needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, or social and emotional needs, so we’re looking for someone patient, resilient, and nurturing.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Building a positive, trusting relationship with your allocated pupil
*Supporting engagement in lessons and encouraging independence
*Implementing strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour
*Adapting activities and communication to meet individual learning needs
*Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to ensure the best outcomes
*Celebrating progress and helping your student build confidence and self-esteem
We’re Looking For:*Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs
*A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills
*The ability to remain resilient and positive in challenging situations
*A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
Transferable Experience Considered:We would love to hear from candidates with backgrounds in:
*SEN or mainstream school support
*Youth work or mentoring
*Residential care or support work
*Mental health services
*Children’s care settings
*Sports coaching or activity leadership
*Nursery or childcare settings
*Psychology or education graduates looking to gain school experience
