About the Role:
Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint an outstanding, motivated, and compassionate Headteacher to lead a secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Alternative Provision in the Liverpool area. This provision supports a maximum of 45 students, offering a highly personalised and nurturing educational experience for young people who require additional support outside of mainstream settings.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced senior leader or an ambitious individual ready to step into Headship to make a significant and lasting impact. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving forward the strategic vision of the provision, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
*Provide clear, inspirational leadership and direction for the provision
*Develop and implement a strategic plan focused on improving outcomes for students with SEMH needs
*Lead on school improvement initiatives, ensuring continuous evaluation and development
Quality of Education
*Ensure the delivery of a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum tailored to meet individual needs
*Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning, promoting high standards across the provision
*Use data effectively to track student progress and drive improvement strategies
Safeguarding & Wellbeing
*Promote a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring all policies and procedures are fully implemented
*Prioritise the wellbeing, safety, and personal development of all students
*Lead on behaviour strategies, creating a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
Staff Leadership & Development
*Lead, manage, and develop a multidisciplinary staff team
*Foster a positive and collaborative working culture
*Oversee staff performance management, training, and professional development
Operational & Financial Management
*Manage the day-to-day running of the provision effectively and efficiently
*Oversee budgets and resources to ensure value for money and sustainability
*Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements
Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
*Build strong relationships with parents, carers, local authorities, and external agencies
*Act as the key point of contact for all stakeholders
*Represent the provision within the wider community and education network
Candidate Requirements:

*Have experience in a senior leadership role within an SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision setting
*Demonstrate a strong understanding of SEMH needs and inclusive education practices
*Are either an existing Headteacher or an aspiring leader ready to take the next step
*Have a proven track record of improving outcomes for vulnerable or disengaged learners
*Possess excellent leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills
*Are resilient, adaptable, and committed to making a difference
