Are you passionate about supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)? Do you have the patience, resilience, and dedication to help pupils thrive in a specialist learning environment?
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive school in Newport to recruit an ALN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils within the school’s specialist Learning Resource Base (LRB), working closely with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional behavioural needs.

The RoleAs an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will:
*Support pupils with severe ASD and additional learning needs in a small class environment.
*Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, engagement, and wellbeing.
*Provide emotional, behavioural, and educational support tailored to individual pupil needs.
*Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
*Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and wider school staff.
*Adapt your approach to meet the changing needs of pupils throughout the school day.
*Follow school safeguarding and behaviour management policies at all times.
What We’re Looking ForTo be successful in this role, you will:
*Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or be willing to register.
*Hold a Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
*Be able to provide two professional references covering the last 24 months.
*Demonstrate resilience, patience, and confidence when supporting pupils with challenging behaviours.
*Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Previous experience working with children with SEN/ALN is desirable; however, we also welcome applications from individuals with relevant personal experience, care backgrounds, youth work experience, or those eager to develop a career within special educational needs.
