About the RoleWe are looking for a reliable and proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our client’s facilities team in Witham. This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in maintaining the site, buildings and equipment, ensuring operations run safely and efficiently while minimising downtime.
Working across a rotating early and late shift pattern, you’ll carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and general site maintenance, supporting both production and the wider business.
Key Responsibilities*Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.
*Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve building and equipment faults quickly and effectively.
*Complete routine repairs, servicing and equipment upgrades to minimise downtime.
*Conduct regular inspections of buildings, facilities and equipment, identifying and reporting any defects.
*Open and secure the site as required by shift patterns.
*Support general site maintenance including:*Painting and decorating
*Basic carpentry
*Minor plumbing repairs
*General building repairs
*Soft landscaping and external upkeep
*Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs and reports.
*Ensure the site remains clean, safe and compliant with Health & Safety regulations.
*Assist with small site improvement projects and contractor supervision where required.
Essential Requirements*Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, building services or multi-skilled maintenance role, or demonstrable practical maintenance skills.
*Good knowledge of general building maintenance
*Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
*Good communication and organisational skills.
*Computer literate and able to maintain maintenance records.
*Full UK Driving Licence.
*Flexible approach to work and rotating shift patterns.
Desirable Skills & ExperienceExperience in any of the following would be advantageous, but training can be provided:
*Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
*Heating and plumbing
*HVAC systems
*Welding
*Carpentry
*Painting and decorating
*Soft landscaping
*Forklift licence
*First Aid certification
*Experience working across multiple trades or industries
