Full job descriptionDisclosure Officer*Annual Salary: £22.42 PAYE / £29.11 Umbrella per hour
*Location: Sutton, SM1
*Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid (1-year contract)
As a Disclosure Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing and reviewing vast volumes of evidential material, ensuring compliance with legal standards and supporting fair criminal proceedings.
Day-to-day of the role:*Review, assess, and manage all evidential and unused material in accordance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) requirements.
*Prepare accurate and comprehensive disclosure schedules.
*Identify material that may undermine the prosecution case or assist the defence.
*Ensure correct handling, retention, and management of third-party material.
*Accurately describe material and assess sensitivity levels.
*Liaise closely with the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO), Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), counsel, and legal representatives.
*Present evidence and/or support disclosure processes during court proceedings where required.
*Maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity standards at all times.
*Uphold the highest standards of quality assurance, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Required Skills & Qualifications:*Proven experience in disclosure within complex criminal investigations.
*Strong knowledge of CPIA and Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) requirements.
*Demonstrable attention to detail and commitment to evidential integrity.
*Investigative mindset with analytical capability.
*Proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable:*Experience of E-discovery & HOLMES.
Additional Requirements:*Ability to work under pressure within a high-profile and sensitive investigation.
*Strong organisational skills to manage large volumes of material.
*Commitment to maintaining public confidence in the criminal justice system.
*Willingness to sign a Confidentiality Agreement upon appointment.
