Location: Based from Witham, Essex with travel across the South East, East Anglia, London and occasional Midlands projects

Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on behalf of our client. This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist engineering business providing maintenance, refurbishment and installation support to manufacturing and industrial clients across the UK.
Main Purpose of the Role
To carry out the maintenance, repair, refurbishment and installation of conveyor systems and associated mechanical equipment at customer sites. The successful candidate will work as an extension of clients’ maintenance teams, ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime and supporting operational efficiency.
Roles & Responsibilities
*Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of conveyor systems.
*Rebuild, refurbish and repair mechanical components and assemblies.
*Attend customer sites to diagnose faults and carry out repairs.
*Install, modify and upgrade conveyor systems and associated equipment.
*Work closely with customer maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
*Complete maintenance reports and relevant documentation accurately.
*Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures.
*Travel to customer sites across the South East, East Anglia and London regions.
*Attend occasional projects in the Midlands requiring overnight stays.
Additional Responsibilities
*Support continuous improvement initiatives within customer facilities.
*Assist with equipment inspections and preventative maintenance schedules.
*Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles in good condition.
*Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and customer site requirements.
*Provide support to colleagues and customers when required.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
*Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Technician or similar.
*Experience working with conveyor systems is highly desirable.
*Apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
*FMCG manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
*Basic electrical fault-finding or maintenance experience would be beneficial.
*Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to work independently and represent the business professionally on customer sites.
*Full UK Driving Licence required.
Working Pattern & Benefits
• Hours: Standard hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm, however site hours may vary between 6:00am – 6:00pm depending on customer requirements.
• Benefits: Company van provided following successful completion of 3-month probation period, varied customer sites, overtime opportunities, travel across multiple industries, long-term career development.
• Salary: £20.00 - £22.00 per hour depending on experience.
