A thriving secondary school in Ipswich is seeking an ambitious and dedicated Second in Department to support the leadership and continued development of a successful curriculum area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher ready to take the next step into middle leadership or for an existing second in department looking to further develop their leadership skills within a supportive and forward-thinking school.
The Role
As Second in Department, you will:
*Support the Head of Department in leading and managing the subject area
*Contribute to curriculum development and ensure high standards of teaching and learning
*Mentor and support colleagues within the department
*Use data effectively to support student progress and attainment
*Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
* Proven experience as an effective classroom practitioner
* A track record of raising attainment and delivering engaging lessons
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* A desire to develop leadership skills or existing middle leadership experience
Requirements
*Applicants must be paid at a minimum of M4 on the Main Pay Scale
*This role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs)
*A passion for education and commitment to student success is essential
