The Opportunity:
Are you looking for a Management Accountant role that fits around your life rather than the other way round?
Campbell Gove Talent are working with an acquisitive, well-established professional services business in Harrogate is hiring a part-time Senior Management Accountant, with genuine flexibility on hours and working pattern. If you’ve got the technical skills but want to step back from full-time hours, whether that’s for family, study, a portfolio career, or just a strong work life balance, this role is built to flex around you.
You’ll take ownership of the monthly management accounts for areas of the business, covering everything from accruals and prepayments through to journals and balance sheet reconciliations. This isn’t a "produce the numbers and move on" role, our client is specifically looking for someone who enjoys getting under the skin of the figures, spotting issues before they become problems, asking the right questions, and adding value beyond the standard reporting cycle.
You’ll also have scope to get involved in process improvement, helping shape how things are done rather than just following the existing routine.
You’ll be the go-to for adviser queries, and there’s a mentoring element too, supporting and reviewing the work of junior finance staff, so it suits someone ready to bring others on as well as manage their own workload.
This is a genuinely varied role: you’ll touch company secretarial administration and dividend processes too, and step in to cover other departmental tasks when needed, so no two weeks look quite the same.
What you’ll bring:
*Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent experience
*Sharp attention to detail and comfortable owning deadlines
*A naturally curious approach to the numbers, not afraid to dig in and challenge what you find
*Confidence explaining numbers to non-finance people
*Some experience mentoring or reviewing junior staff’s work (or keen to build this)
*Strong Excel and accounting systems skills
