Full job descriptionLong-Term Cover Supervisor - Secondary SchoolRotherham | September Start | Full-TimeTradewind Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work on a long-term basis at a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Rotherham. This full-time role is due to commence in September and offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a secondary school setting.As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes during teacher absences and ensuring students remain engaged with the work set.
Key Responsibilities*Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects.
*Supervise whole classes in the absence of the class teacher.
*Manage classroom behaviour effectively and in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
*Ensure students remain focused, engaged, and on task throughout lessons.
*Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate.
*Record attendance and report any issues or concerns to relevant staff members.
*Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
*Support the wider school community and participate in school activities where required.
Requirements*Experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting.
*Strong classroom management and communication skills.
*Confidence in leading groups of secondary-aged students.
*Ability to adapt quickly and work across a variety of subject areas.
*Professional, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to work.
*A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
*Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience*Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or similar role.
*Degree-level education or relevant qualifications.
*Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and secondary school practices.
