*Location: Aylesford, Kent
*Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
*Shift Pattern: Rotating / Site-based
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team in a busy manufacturing/production environment. This role is crucial for maintaining, repairing, and improving both production and facility equipment, ensuring compliance with current legislation, health & safety standards, and site maintenance systems. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting production operations.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine equipment checks.
*Diagnose faults and respond promptly to site breakdowns.
*Perform reactive and proactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
*Support production teams as required to meet operational demands.
*Complete weekly site inspections and maintain accurate maintenance records.
*Carry out equipment installations and modifications in line with current regulations.
*Ensure compliance with food hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
*Liaise with contractors and chaperone visitors when required.
*Maintain high standards of housekeeping across work areas and workshops.
*Monitor spare parts stock levels and report requirements.
*Participate in continuous improvement activities.
*Ensure clear communication and effective handovers between shifts.
*Undertake any additional reasonable duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Relevant engineering qualification (minimum NVQ Level 2 or 3 / Engineering NC).
*Electrical or mechanical bias (multi-skilled preferred).
*Electrical competency (e.g., 18th Edition desirable).
*Experience working in a manufacturing, food, or production environment.
*Confident using hand and power tools.
*Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.
*Good written and verbal communication skills.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable (but not essential):
*PLC and drive experience.
*Plumbing or HVAC knowledge.
*Ducting, pipework, or ventilation experience.
*Metalwork and TIG welding (stainless steel) experience.
