Are you a reliable, proactive and hands-on individual with a strong sense of responsibility? We are currently recruiting for a Premises Officer / Caretaker to join a busy and welcoming secondary school in St Helens on a temp-to-perm basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and secure environment for students, staff and visitors.
Role OverviewAs a Premises Officer, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring the site is well-maintained, secure and fully operational at all times.
Working HoursThis role requires flexibility and commitment to a split shift pattern:
*Morning: 6:00am – 10:15am
*Afternoon: 2:45pm – 6:00pm
Please note: This is an all-year-round position (not term-time only).
Key Responsibilities*Opening and locking up the school site daily
*Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks
*Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are clean, safe and well-presented
*Conducting health & safety checks and reporting hazards
*Setting up rooms for events, exams, and school activities
*Managing deliveries and supporting contractors on site
*Performing security checks, including alarm systems
*Supporting emergency procedures when required
What We’re Looking For*Previous experience in a caretaker, premises, maintenance, or facilities role (preferred)
*A practical, hands-on approach with basic maintenance skills
*Strong work ethic and reliability
*Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
*Good understanding of health & safety procedures
*Flexible and committed to split shift working patterns
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
