Full job descriptionA well-established precision machining business in Derbyshire is looking for a Senior General Manager to take full site leadership and drive the next phase of operational and commercial performance.
This is a genuinely senior role with board-level exposure, full P&L accountability, and the scope to make a real difference to how the business operates and grows.
The Business
The business produces complex, tight tolerance machined components for demanding customers across high compliance engineering sectors. It has invested consistently in technology, capability and people, and the foundations are strong.
The incoming Senior General Manager will be expected to build on that platform and lead meaningful transformation across operations, culture and commercial performance. This is not a steady-state role. The board is looking for someone who can identify where performance gaps exist and close them.
The Role
As Senior General Manager you will:
*Hold full P&L accountability and deliver against financial and operational targets
*Lead production, engineering, quality and supply chain functions across the site
*Drive lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and operational transformation
*Work with the board to shape and execute site strategy and growth plans
*Maintain and strengthen relationships with key customer accounts
*Develop senior operational managers and build a culture of accountability and high performance
*Oversee capital investment, capacity planning and productivity improvement
*Identify commercial opportunities to grow existing accounts and win new business
The Person
You will be an established senior manufacturing leader with a strong background in precision machining or closely related high compliance engineering environments.
Must haves:
*Current or recent experience at General Manager, Operations Director or Plant Manager level within precision machining or similar
*Proven track record of leading manufacturing transformation, not just maintaining existing performance
*Strong CNC background across turning, milling or multi-axis machining operations
*Full P&L ownership with demonstrable improvement in financial and operational results
*Experience leading lean and continuous improvement programmes, Six Sigma qualified or equivalent
*Comfortable operating across board level, customer interface and shop floor
*Sector experience in high compliance manufacturing with knowledge of quality management systems and customer approval processes
