About the RoleWe are seeking an organised, proactive, and client-focused Conveyancing Paralegal to join our busy Residential Property team in Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious legal professional looking to develop their career within a well-established and growing law firm.
The successful candidate will provide support to solicitors and fee earners while assisting with a broad range of residential conveyancing transactions. The role requires strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities*Assist fee earners with the management of residential conveyancing transactions from instruction through to completion.
*Open new client files and undertake client onboarding procedures.
*Carry out anti-money laundering (AML) and identity verification checks.
*Prepare contract packs and supporting documentation.
*Request and review property searches.
*Draft routine correspondence and legal documents under supervision.
*Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, brokers, developers, and other solicitors.
*Maintain regular communication with clients and provide updates on transaction progress.
*Assist with exchange of contracts and completion arrangements.
*Prepare completion statements and assist with financial transactions.
*Submit applications to HM Land Registry and deal with post-completion formalities.
*Ensure files are maintained accurately and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
*Use case management systems to manage workflow and monitor deadlines.
*Provide general administrative support to the Residential Property team.
Candidate RequirementsEssential*Previous experience working in a conveyancing or residential property environment.
*Good understanding of the residential conveyancing process.
*Strong administrative and organisational skills.
*Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
*Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
*Professional and client-focused approach.
Desirable*Law degree, CILEx qualification, LPC/SQE studies, or equivalent legal training.
*Experience using legal case management systems.
*Familiarity with HM Land Registry processes and SDLT submissions.
*Experience working within a high-volume conveyancing team.
*Ambition to progress towards a fee-earning or qualified legal role.
