Full job descriptionAbout the Role
We are seeking a passionate, resilient and dedicated SEN/SEMH Teacher to join a specialist school in Croydon supporting children and young people aged 6-19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning difficulties.
You will be delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet a wide range of abilities while supporting students to develop academically, emotionally, and socially in a safe and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Plan and deliver creative, accessible lessons across KS1-KS5
*Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and additional learning needs
*Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised learning plans (EHCPs)
*Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress
*Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leaders
*Track progress and contribute to reviews and reporting
*Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive outcomes for all learners
We are looking for someone who is:
*A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) or experienced SEN educator
*Confident working with children and young people with complex needs
*Skilled in behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
*Patient, empathetic, and resilient under pressure
*Passionate about making a difference in alternative/special education
*Able to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
Desirable Experience
*SEN or SEMH school experience
*Experience with Autism (ASC), ADHD, trauma-informed practice
*Background in primary, secondary, or alternative provision settings
*Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated curriculum delivery
