An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ecologist to join a well-established and forward-thinking environmental consultancy based in the Essex region. This role offers the chance to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects while delivering expert ecological advice and supporting sustainable development initiatives. You will work alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team, including Landscape Architects, Arboricultural Consultants, and fellow Ecologists.

Key Duties*Carry out ecological field surveys, including habitat assessments and protected species surveys, in accordance with industry guidance.

*Prepare a variety of technical reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs).

*Deliver ecological guidance to clients, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and planning requirements.

*Assist in the design and implementation of mitigation, compensation, and biodiversity enhancement strategies.

*Collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

*Stay informed of changes in ecological legislation, policy, and best practice guidance.

*Provide support and mentoring to junior members of the ecology team.



Candidate Requirements*Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

*Previous experience working within ecological consultancy or a similar environment.

*Sound knowledge of UK ecological legislation, planning frameworks, and survey methodologies.

*Demonstrated experience producing ecological reports and conducting field surveys.

*Membership of a relevant professional organisation, such as CIEEM, is desirable.

*Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

*Self-motivated with excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.

*Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel as required.
