Full job descriptionTechnical Director - PlanningLocation: Flexible UK Locations | Hybrid Working AvailableShape Major Infrastructure and Development Projects Across the UKWe are partnering with a leading international engineering, design and project management consultancy to appoint an experienced Technical Director - Planning. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an established planning professional looking to influence some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure, transportation, energy and development programmes.
As a Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving planning strategy, leading multidisciplinary teams, developing client relationships and securing new business opportunities. This position offers the chance to work at the forefront of complex projects that are helping to shape the future of communities, connectivity and sustainable development.
The OpportunityYou will provide strategic planning leadership across a diverse portfolio of major projects, working closely with public and private sector clients to deliver successful planning outcomes.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Leading planning inputs across major infrastructure and development projects.
*Providing expert advice on planning strategy, consenting and regulatory processes.
*Managing and mentoring a team of planning professionals.
*Building and maintaining strong client relationships at senior levels.
*Identifying and securing new business opportunities through proposals and bids.
*Collaborating with technical specialists across environmental, engineering and design disciplines.
*Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, stakeholders and project teams.
*Supporting the growth and strategic direction of the planning business.
About YouWe are keen to speak with experienced planning professionals who can demonstrate:
*Significant experience within town planning, infrastructure planning or environmental planning.
*A proven track record of leading complex planning projects and multidisciplinary teams.
*Strong commercial awareness and business development capability.
*Excellent stakeholder engagement and client management skills.
*Detailed knowledge of UK planning legislation, policy and consenting frameworks.
*Chartered status through the RTPI or an equivalent professional body.
*The ability to operate confidently at both strategic and technical levels.
