Full job descriptionOur client a freight forwarder, is looking for an apprentice to join their office in Grays.
Role Overview
This is an entry-level position with full on-the-job training provided. The successful candidate will learn and develop skills in the following areas:
• Learning to use our operating system and assisting the department with booking shipments
• Understanding the fundamentals of the shipping and logistics industry, including key terminology
• Communicating with customers and overseas agents
• Preparing customer quotations
• Arranging deliveries using both our in-house transport network and third-party providers
• Supporting the office and management team with day-to-day administrative tasks
Requirements
• No previous experience required – college and school leavers are welcome to apply
• This is a desk-based role working from our office
• We are looking for someone who:
o Is confident using Outlook, including composing professional emails, and managing attachments
o Has good keyboard and typing skills
o Has a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and internet-based research
o Has excellent written and spoken English and a professional telephone manner
o Is organised, able to multitask, and has good timekeeping skills
o Is keen to learn about the shipping and logistics industry and develop a long-term career
