If you have a track record of delivering significant savings through robust contract negotiations and strong market knowledge, we’d like to hear from you.
Your initial focus will be on Temporary Accommodation and Outer Borough Home Care contracts, working closely with services, finance and senior stakeholders to drive value for money and ensure agreed savings are realised.
Key Responsibilities:
*Review existing supplier contracts and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve commercial value
*Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers, securing improved pricing, contract terms and service arrangements
*Develop and deliver category plans aligned to approved business cases
*Drive delivery of agreed savings, ensuring milestones and financial benefits are achieved
*Establish effective contract management practices, including regular supplier performance reviews
*Work collaboratively with service areas, finance and programme teams to ensure delivery remains on track
*Identify risks, resolve issues and maintain delivery momentum across multiple workstreams
*Provide clear reporting on progress, savings and outcomes to senior stakeholders and programme governance boards
Skills, experience and knowledge:
*Significant commercial procurement experience within local government or another complex public sector environment
*Proven experience negotiating directly with suppliers to deliver substantial, validated savings
*Experience managing contracts in an Adult Social Care Environment would be a bonus
*Strong contract review and commercial analysis skills, with the ability to identify where organisations are overpaying
*Excellent market knowledge and the confidence to negotiate improved commercial outcomes
*Strong understanding of supplier and contract management
*Experience working with financial benefits tracking and governance
*Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders
*Good knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 and public sector procurement governance
