Full job descriptionOutreach Support Mentor - Alternative Provision
An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced and compassionate Outreach Support Mentors to join a specialist alternative provision supporting secondary-aged young people who face barriers to accessing mainstream education.
This rewarding role involves working directly with students who may require additional emotional, social, behavioural, or medical support to successfully re-engage with education and achieve positive long-term outcomes.
The successful candidate will provide personalised mentoring and outreach support across a variety of settings, including educational environments, community locations, and family homes. You will play a key role in helping young people build confidence, develop resilience, and overcome challenges that impact attendance, wellbeing, and engagement.
Due to the nature of this outreach-based role, regular travel between schools, family homes, and community locations is required. Applicants should therefore hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle insured for business use.

Main Responsibilities*Deliver targeted mentoring and outreach support to young people on a one-to-one basis
*Build positive and professional relationships with students, families, and external professionals
*Support pupils in developing confidence, emotional regulation, and readiness for education
*Work collaboratively with education providers, families, and multi-agency teams to coordinate support plans
*Maintain accurate safeguarding, attendance, and intervention records using internal systems
*Contribute to support planning, restorative approaches, and wellbeing strategies
*Attend meetings and reviews relating to student progress and reintegration pathways
*Promote engagement, attendance, and positive outcomes through consistent and structured support
*Travel regularly between educational settings, family homes, and community locations as part of the role
Candidate ProfileWe are seeking individuals who:
*Have experience supporting children or young people with social, emotional, behavioural, or additional learning needs
*Possess strong safeguarding awareness and understand the importance of professional boundaries
*Are calm, resilient, and able to work effectively under pressure
*Demonstrate excellent communication, relationship-building, and organisational skills
*Have experience working within education, alternative provision, youth work, social care, or similar settings
*Are confident working independently as well as collaboratively within a wider team
*Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle suitable for business use
*Are committed to inclusive practice and supporting vulnerable young people to succeed
