An established international manufacturing and consumer products business is seeking an Accounts Assistant who has experience of using Sage 200 to join its finance team on a temporary basis. This is an immediate requirement and presents an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who is available at short notice and enjoys working in a busy, fast-paced finance environment.
Reporting to the Finance Controller, this role will focus primarily on invoice processing, supplier account management and maintaining accurate financial records, while supporting the wider finance team with day-to-day transactional activities.
The Role
This is a hands-on role centred around the accurate processing of invoices and supporting the smooth running of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
*Processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
*Matching invoices to purchase orders and investigating any discrepancies
*Managing supplier account queries and liaising with internal departments to resolve issues
*Reconciling supplier statements and ensuring accounts remain up to date
*Assisting with weekly payment runs
*Processing employee expenses and company credit card transactions
*Supporting bank reconciliations and cash postings
*Maintaining accurate records within the finance system
*Assisting with sales ledger administration and customer account queries when required
*Supporting month-end processes, including ledger reviews and reconciliations
*Assisting with audit requests and providing supporting documentation
*Ensuring finance records are maintained accurately and in line with company procedures
Systems & Administration
*Working with finance systems and Excel to maintain accurate financial data
*Supporting ongoing improvements to finance processes and procedures
*Assisting with document management and record keeping
*Providing general administrative support to the wider finance team as required
About You
We are looking for an organised and detail-focused individual who enjoys working with invoices, supplier accounts and transactional finance processes.
You will ideally have:
*Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Purchase Ledger or Finance Assistant role
*Strong invoice processing and supplier account reconciliation experience
*Good attention to detail and accuracy
*Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload
*Good Excel skills and confidence using finance systems
*A proactive and positive approach to problem solving
*Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with suppliers and colleagues
Desirable
*Experience within a manufacturing, distribution or product-based environment
*Exposure to month-end processes and reconciliations
*Experience using ERP or accounting systems
*AAT qualified, studying towards AAT, or qualified by experience
