Distinct is partnering with a Nottinghamshire business at a pivotal moment — the organisation is embarking on a significant transformation, rolling out next-generation management and financial accounting systems.
To support this transition, there’s an urgent need for a Finance and Reconciliation Consultant to embed within the Financial Reporting team. Your focus will be on ensuring that balance sheet and financial data is clean, fully reconciled, and well understood before the system go-live — playing a central role in minimising migration risk and setting the business up for reliable reporting from the outset.
What you’ll be doing
*Conducting in-depth reviews of GL balances — tracing transaction origins, understanding data flows, reconciliation controls, and the knock-on effect on downstream reporting
*Building reconciliations of GL balances against sub-ledgers, source systems, and other datasets — digging into variances and putting clear remediation plans in place
*Flagging data quality issues and process gaps to the Financial Reporting team before they become bigger problems
*Producing clear documentation of findings, risks, and fixes to support audit trails and inform future-state processes
What you’ll bring
*A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with solid technical grounding in financial reporting and general ledger accounting
*The ability to hit the ground running and deliver independently against tight deadlines
*A cool head when working with messy or incomplete data, and an instinct for getting to the root of a problem
*Advanced Excel skills, including confidence handling large and complex datasets
*Strong familiarity with financial systems and data environments
