Full job descriptionFamily Solicitor / Associate Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
PQE: 2+ Years
Department: Family / Matrimonial
The Opportunity An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Family Solicitor or Associate to join a well-established and highly regarded Family team in the North East.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced Partners on a broad range of privately funded family matters, acting for clients across the region. The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative team, handling high-quality work while playing an active role in the continued growth and development of the department.
This position would suit an ambitious solicitor who is looking to further develop their expertise in family law, build strong client relationships, and establish themselves as a key member of a successful practice.
The Role You will manage your own caseload whilst working alongside Partners and other fee earners on a wide range of family and matrimonial matters, including:
*Divorce and separation
*Financial remedy proceedings, including high-net-worth matters
*Private Children Act proceedings
*Cohabitation and property disputes
*Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements
*Negotiated settlements and alternative dispute resolution
You will be responsible for providing clear, practical and commercially minded advice to clients, drafting legal documentation, conducting advocacy, attending court hearings and ensuring matters progress efficiently from instruction through to conclusion.
The role will also involve supporting business development initiatives, networking, and helping to maintain and grow the department’s strong reputation across the North East.
About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally:
*Be a qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 2 years’ PQE in Family Law
*Have experience advising on a broad range of private family matters, including divorce, financial remedies and private children cases
*Be confident managing your own caseload with minimal supervision
*Possess strong advocacy and negotiation skills
*Demonstrate excellent client care and relationship-building abilities
*Have strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
*Be proactive, commercially aware and committed to delivering outstanding client service
*Have an interest in business development and generating new work
*Enjoy working collaboratively whilst also being capable of working independently
