Working Pattern: Full-time, Hybrid (office-based during probation)
A highly regarded and well-established national law firm is seeking a Residential Property Assistant to join its busy conveyancing team in Newbury. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal assistant or conveyancing administrator looking to develop their career within a supportive, high-performing residential property team.
You will play a key role in supporting fee earners handling a varied caseload of residential conveyancing matters, including sales, purchases, remortgages and secured lending transactions.
Key Responsibilities
• Supporting fee earners with residential conveyancing transactions (freehold and leasehold)
• Preparing contract packs and initial documentation
• Carrying out file opening procedures and conflict checks
• Assisting with compliance and regulatory processes
• Requesting and reviewing property searches
• Drafting correspondence to clients, lenders, solicitors and third parties
• Liaising with clients and managing agents, providing regular updates
• Supporting post-completion work, including Land Registry applications
• Managing electronic files, document filing and case tracking systems
• Handling administrative duties, including post, scanning, printing and invoicing
About You
• Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or Conveyancing Assistant within a residential property team
• Strong understanding of conveyancing processes, HMLR, SDLT and property searches
• Experience supporting busy fee earners in a fast-paced legal environment
• Excellent communication and client care skills
• Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems
• A proactive, personable and team-focused approach
