Location: Cornwall
Contract Type: Temporary / Daily Supply
Hours: Flexible, Monday to Friday between 8:30am – 4:00pm
Start Date: Immediate
About the Opportunity
SparkEd Recruitment is proud to partner with a range of supportive and inclusive schools across Cornwall to recruit dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants for temporary and day-to-day supply assignments.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils across Key Stages 1–4 on a flexible basis, helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. Assignments may vary in length from single-day cover to short-term placements, depending on school requirements.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will provide tailored support to help students overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work within education while gaining valuable experience across a variety of school settings.
The Role
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEND and SEMH needs
• Build positive, trusting relationships that promote engagement and wellbeing
• Support pupils who may experience behavioural challenges, anxiety, depression, or the effects of trauma
• Assist students in developing social, emotional, and academic skills
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and wider school teams to deliver personalised support
• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
• Adapt quickly to different school environments and classroom settings as required
About You
We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experience levels. Previous experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs is beneficial but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided.
The successful candidate will:
• Be caring, patient, and passionate about supporting young people
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Be adaptable, reliable, and comfortable working in different school settings
• Show resilience and confidence when supporting students with complex needs
• Have an interest or background in education, childcare, psychology, social care, youth work, or a related field (desirable)
• Have experience or an understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or challenging behaviour (desirable)
What We Offer
• Competitive daily pay rates based on experience and skills
• Flexible working opportunities to suit your availability
• Access to wellbeing support and resources
• A dedicated recruitment consultant available 24/7
• Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
• The chance to gain valuable experience across a variety of school environments
• A rewarding role where you can make a genuine and lasting impact on young people’s lives
If you are committed to helping students overcome challenges and reach their potential while enjoying the flexibility of supply work, we would love to hear from you.
