£43,000 + Benefits
Double Days (06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00) - transitioning to 3-shift pattern by year end
A leading packaging manufacturer in Northampton is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their established engineering team due to continued growth and investment across the site.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and forward-thinking business within the packaging sector, offering long-term development and the chance to work on a modern, fast-paced production environment.
THE ROLE
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of production and packaging machinery. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
*Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production equipment
*Respond to breakdowns in a timely and effective manner
*Fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems
*Work with PLC-controlled machinery (fault diagnosis, not necessarily programming)
*Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities
*Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company standards
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
*Multi-skilled maintenance background (electrical and mechanical)
*Experience within manufacturing or packaging environments
*Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems
*Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and motors
*PLC fault-finding experience (Siemens / Allen Bradley desirable)
*Ability to work independently on shift and respond to breakdowns effectively
*Apprenticeship trained or relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
SHIFT PATTERN
Currently working a Double Days shift pattern (06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00), with a planned transition to a 3-shift rota by the end of the year.
