If so, Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are currently recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant for a fantastic specialist school site in the Ossett area. Starting in September 2026, this full-time temporary role is perfect for someone who thrives in a specialist setting and wants to build invaluable experience on a flexible, day-to-day basis.

Skills Required*A calm, reassuring presence and a genuine understanding of the unique learning and emotional barriers SEND students face.
*A flexible mindset and the ability to think on your feet, as day-to-day supply requires adapting quickly to different classroom dynamics.
*Strong interpersonal skills to connect with non-verbal or communication-impaired students using visual aids or simplified language.
*The ability to remain positive, professional, and composed during challenging or emotionally charged situations.
Job Responsibilities*Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a variety of complex learning, physical, or behavioural needs.
*Assisting the class teacher in managing classroom dynamics, setting up learning resources, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment.
*Helping students engage with the curriculum through adapted learning materials, visual schedules, and sensory activities.
*Promoting independence, boosting students self-esteem, and strictly adhering to all school safeguarding and health and safety protocols.
Essential Requirements*Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, or within a care/support work setting in the UK.
*Full eligibility to work in the UK (please note: visa sponsorship is not available for this role).
*An enhanced DBS check on the update service, or a total willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad.
*A compassionate, non-judgemental approach and a genuine desire to act as a positive mentor.
