About the role:
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Functional Skills Maths Tutor to join our education team within a prison setting, working with young offenders. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting learners to develop essential numeracy skills that will help them transition successfully back into education, training, or employment.
Key Responsibilities*Deliver high-quality Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level to Level 2) lessons
*Plan and adapt schemes of work to meet individual learner needs
*Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment
*Support learners to achieve recognised qualifications
*Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback
*Manage classroom behaviour effectively within a secure environment
*Work collaboratively with prison staff and education colleagues
*Maintain accurate records in line with compliance requirements
What we need from you:
*Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths (essential)
*A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent)
*Passion for supporting young people with challenging backgrounds
*Strong classroom management and communication skills
*Ability to engage and motivate disengaged learners
*Understanding of safeguarding and equality in education
